Police armed with tasers UK police armed with taser guns unfit for export.
Police officers are being armed with stun guns from this weekend even though the government has banned their export because of fears they could be used for torture. Officers hope the Taser gun, which incapacitates its target by delivering a 50,000 volt shock, will reduce the number of suspects who are shot dead.

Russia has officially registered 235,000 HIV cases. However, Vadim Pokrovsky, head of the Health Ministry's AIDS Prevention and Treatment Center, told a news conference that the actual infection rate was much higher: an estimated 700,000 to 1.5 million.

Dart filled bombs in Israel Flechettes, dart filled bombs, were not banned by the Israeli High Court.
Physicians for Israeli lobby group Human Rights said the use of shells packed with darts - known as flechettes - was in contravention of the Geneva Convention covering the rules of warfare and should be banned. Flechette shells caused unnecessary human suffering and were indiscriminate weapons, they argued.
