Spent these last two days at the movie houses…as if our movie marathon at home during the holy week wasn't enough. Yesterday it was Johnny English and today, since my brother and I (yes, I'm hanging out a lot with my brother these days) didn't notice it opened already, we went back for A Man Apart.
Don't really need to say anything about watching Johnny English...it's Rowan Atkinson for goodness' sake! Just a twitch of his eyebrows could send me into hysterics. I had fun, enough said. Oh by the way, I didn't realize that he playing opposite Natalie Imbruglia until I saw the credits. All throughout the movie I was going like " who's this girl? She looks a lot like Natalie Imbruglia". And it was her all along.
Now for this other one...do I dare make a review of a Vin Diesel movie? Hmmm....ok here goes. For those who like lots of explosions and extreme stunts (like the ones he did in xXx), you'll feel a little disappointed. Sadly, there aren't much of those in this movie...but the amount of violence and gore more than made up for this. I’m talking serious bodily harm here…lots of bloodied noses and slit throats, yippee!
The movie managed to stir away from the xXx formula, first, by trying to explore his sensitive and vulnerable side (they made him cry, folks) and second, by inserting some kind of whodunit element to the plot like something from The Usual Suspects. Now that’s a classic. I can still recall the moment when everything fell into place in my brain as I watching that movie. I didn’t catch on until nearly the very end when Kevin Spacey was claiming his belongings from the police…it was the lighter that did it. This movie really got me duped big time. That’s why it’s one of my all-time favorites.
I can’t say the same for A Man Apart, though. The plot was pretty predictable in some parts (it was obvious his wife was going to get killed from the start, simply because she was his wife) and I had suspicions on whodunit halfway through the movie. But what the heck, it’s Vin Diesel! Today’s coolness icon, you just can’t argue with that?! (Oh shit, I mentioned his name twice, I hope this doesn’t turn up in a google search, damn!)
Besides, the ending really kicked ass…talk about payback time. Nicely executed if I may say so myself. Also, plus points for the makers of the movie for casting a cat that looked just like mine (ICE is definitely way cuter, no contest there). Every time the cat appeared my brother and I went "Awww, Icy...!". This movie deserves to be included in my favorites list just for that. (Wonder what other movies my cat has starred in that I don’t know about, hmmm.)
Anyway, he definitely looked good in a black suit and blue tie (and I don’t mean the cat) ^_^

...just found out today that the secret to the sago't gulaman samalamig (the pinoy version of lemonade) is brown sugar. well, duh! so simple and obvious, how could i have missed that?! now i will no longer suffer my craving for this sweet street drink since i can already make my own. Bwahahaha!
...delved into my old stuff and found this rhyme I wrote 3 years ago. I think it's neat ^_^ sounds like something Delirium would blurt out if it was possible for her to ever be depressed and bordering on suicidal. am so thrilled.

Drive a knife into my breast
Rid the world of this damned pest
...am cheering myself up with a vcd of LOTR (FOTR), bought it for P200 only. There goes my load for this month, no texting by the end of this week for me but then again that's ok. i was planning on hibernating for the summer (or at least til i get a job) since i can't go and disappear somewhere else.
...no luck with the job hunting so far. frankly i'm not trying that hard. the thought of the career paths open to me (given the course i finished) is very straightforward (too straight for my tastes). I'm still trying to decide if its the right path for me. bumming is looking very appealing these days.
...the parents are preparing for their visa interview on the first week of may. if everything goes well, they'll be flying to the US by june. sigh! guess, that gives my bumming days an irrevocable time limit.
...my superpower of intuition manifested itself again this weekend. would've been ok if it did any good...all it ever does is make me feel antsy and worried until the event actually happens.

...am checking my tapes for survivors...my cranberries tape (bury the hatchet) wasn't one of them. i've been neglecting them for a while now because most of our tape decks are busted. I rediscovered my cibo matto and moonpools albums, and played them the whole day. felt happy
Don't make my mouth water, don't make me want to slaughter...ours phone's busted yet again. who knows when this thing is getting posted. It's getting a bit long...started this yesterday, they're mostly just rambling.
If you give me a dishwasher, don't clean my life with your style [speechless, cibo matto]
